RNAO issues statement on college faculty strike

Faculty members at 24 colleges across the province have been on strike since Oct. 16.

The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) issued a statement Nov. 9 in response to the strike by college faculty.

“It is shocking that college instructors, who play such a critical role educating tomorrow’s workers, have such precarious working conditions. Instructors should not be forced to live contract to contract. They deserve the security and dignity that comes with full-time work, and students deserve continuity in their education. Given that this strike is now in its fourth week, we urge the College Employer Council to return to the bargaining table and negotiate with Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) so this strike can be resolved in an expeditious manner and allow the thousands of students, including many nursing students, to return to their classrooms," says Doris Grinspun, chief executive officer of RNAO.
