RNAO’s International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) accreditation: a jubilant occasion
RNAO is thrilled to share that it was awarded accreditation by a globally acclaimed nursing organization.
In March, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) selected RNAO to become one of just 10 organizations in the world to be recognized as an accredited centre for International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) Research & Development Centre. ICN is the world's first and widest reaching international organization for health professionals.
As part of ICN, the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) was created to advance knowledge in the nursing domain. The function of an ICNP Research and Development Centre (such as RNAO) is to build on the progress of ICNP; to develop the profession and create information and knowledge, which will shape nursing for years to come.
RNAO's ICNP Centre focuses on ehealth technology and RNAO's development of Nursing Order Sets based on our best practice guidelines. We are working closely with ICN to have these order sets mapped to ICNP, the standardized nursing language. This means that RNAO's work on BPGs will contribute to global nursing on a much wider scale.
