RNAO hosts two workshops at People’s Social Forum
RNAO was proud to bring the voice of nurses to the nation’s capital as part of an important sociopolitical movement. Your professional association hosted two workshops at the People’s Social Forum – a gathering of individuals and civil society groups to discuss social change held Aug. 21 – 24 in Ottawa.
RNAO CEO Doris Grinspun and other nursing representatives attended the forum, which aimed to foster social justice, sustainable development and participatory democracy.
Nurses hosted the following workshops:
- Extreme Heat Events: Working Together to Address Poverty and Climate Change – This workshop explored building health equity through stronger alliances with the people experiencing the greatest burden from climate change.
- Health Care for All: Mobilizing Against For-Profit Health Care – Nurses shared strategies with health activists who want to safeguard Canada’s publicly-funded, not-for-profit health-care system against market forces seeking profit over universality, quality, and access.
RNAO was proud to participate in this groundbreaking forum and to promote healthy public policy at the grassroots level.
