RNAO announces appointment of new Director of Health and Nursing Policy
TORONTO, July 12, 2004 – The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sheila Block as the Association’s Director for Health and Nursing Policy. Ms. Block is commencing her position at RNAO on Monday, July 12th.
Ms. Block comes to RNAO with a wealth of knowledge including as Policy Advisor at the Premier’s Office, and with Ms. Lankin when she was Minister of Economic Development and Trade. For the last nine years Ms. Block has been a Senior Researcher with the United Steelworkers. She has been heavily involved in the public policy debate in Ontario, Canada and abroad, and is a passionate advocate for Medicare and other social programs.
Ms. Block has an Honours BA in Economics from the University of British Columbia and master’s degree in Economics from the University of Toronto.
“Sheila will be an incredible asset to RNAO, adding to an already strong and influential association” said, Doris Grinspun, RNAO’s executive director. “We are delighted with the choice,” added Joan Lesmond, the association’s president.
