Federal Minister of Health Tony Clement to visit Rosseau clinic

TORONTO, May 16, 2008 – The Honourable Tony Clement, federal minister of health, will join nurses celebrating the grand opening of the Ruth Dare Health Clinic in Rosseau on May 17.

The visit coincides with the annual Take Your MPP/MP to Work event organized by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO). It gives politicians the chance to see the realities of front-line health care, and the effect nurses’ knowledge, expertise and compassion have on countless lives in Ontario. Thirty-five politicians are taking part in events across the province this week.

“Nursing Week provides an important forum to remind politicians how nurses help people remain healthy, and get access to timely, high quality health services when they need them,” says RNAO president Wendy Fucile.

The opening of the Ruth Dare clinic also marks a milestone for community members who will now be able to receive expanded services from nurses and other health professionals. Funds to build the clinic – which replaces the nursing station that was located in a trailer – came from the Dare family, the federal and municipal governments, and local community donations.
