Deadline to enter Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario's awards for health-care reporting fast approaching

2010-12-13

TORONTO, Dec. 13, 2010 – Just one week remains for journalists to enter the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario’s (RNAO) annual Awards for Excellence in Health-Care Reporting. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 4:30 p.m.

Reporters, editors and producers who explored topics such as nurse practitioner clinics, the high cost of managing chronic diseases and the future of Medicare (and other nursing and health-related stories) in 2010 are invited to enter. Journalists can also nominate colleagues for an award. Entries must have been published in Ontario newspapers or magazines, or broadcast on radio or television during the past year. Winners will receive their awards in April at the President’s Banquet held during RNAO’s annual general meeting.

Stories will be judged on content, writing, creativity and human interest/community impact. Journalists are encouraged to select an exceptional feature or news story, or radio or television broadcast that they feel should be recognized for its comprehensive treatment of nursing or health-care issues.

Each year, RNAO receives entries from media outlets across the province. Last year’s judges reviewed entries from CBC Radio, the Hamilton Spectator, Global Television and Today’s Parent magazine.
