Invitation Red Tent Day of Action for a Federal Housing Strategy
On behalf of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), we would like to invite you to an upcoming event called the “Red Tent Canada Day of Action for a Federal Housing Strategy” on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Toronto.
By attending this important day of action, you can represent the many nurses from across the province who affirm that housing is a human right. We will be joining the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee (TDRC), ACORN Toronto, Voices from the Street, and many other concerned Ontarians that are committed to improving the current housing crisis.
If you would like to meet up with other RNAO members and carry a banner or a flag, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Or just show up if your schedule permits! You are also invited to share this invitation with your friends and colleagues. To learn more about this event, please click here for an event poster.
Red Tent Canada Day of Action for a Federal Housing Strategy
Toronto Solidarity Rally: All levels of government must respond to the housing crisis!
Date and Location:
Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

(southeast corner of Bay & College)
RNAO, along with many other organizations, continues to advocate for federal, provincial, and municipal action to address critical housing needs. RNAO members have been using our “Creating Vibrant Communities” platform to speak out about housing as a human right and an essential determinant of good health and well-being.
The Red Tent Canada Day of Action for a Federal Housing Strategy is another opportunity for RNAO members to join concerned Canadians across the country in calling on politicians from all parties to support Bill C-304. This Bill is an Act to ensure secure, adequate, accessible and affordable housing for Canadians, set to go before Parliament for a final vote at the end of October.
Let’s make our voice heard about the need for Bill C-304 to ensure that we have a federal housing strategy that meets the diverse needs of communities across Canada. This rally is being held outside the provincial Ministry of Housing offices in order to urge action on a delayed fully-funded provincial affordable housing strategy. And the timing couldn’t be better with municipal elections coming up on October 25th --now is the time to remind candidates that we will be voting for those who stand up for the needs of those who are homeless and those struggling due to lack of affordable housing.
We warmly welcome you to participate in this event along with several other organizations across Canada who will be taking a stand on October 19, 2010 to advocate for improved housing
