URGENT MESSAGE
FROM RNAO PRESIDENT DAVID McNEIL AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DORIS GRINSPUN
As a nurse, you know what’s at stake in Monday’s federal election:
- Future of our treasured publicly-funded and not-for-profit health-care system and whether we take the opportunity of the upcoming health accord negotiations to guarantee primary care for every Canadian and include home care and pharmacare coverage;
- Reversing the failure to enforce the Canada Health Act to protect Canadians from user fees, extra-billing and queue-jumping;
- Federal leadership to take action on the factors that affect the health of individuals and communities such as poverty, the need for affordable housing, child care and clean air and water;
- Improving access to comprehensive nursing services, especially in remote and rural communities.
Nurses are involved actively participating in the democratic process like never before!
Check the RNAO video "Election 2011 - Nurses Speak Out" and hear why RNs across the province believe it’s important for all of us to vote and make sure our voices are heard.
Compare the records of the Leaders and Political Parties in the chart below.
And, please, VOTE on Monday, May 2nd. And Get others to VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s just about the most important thing you can do.
Thank you for taking seriously your democratic rights!
David McNeil, RN, BScN, MHA, CHE
