After OxyContin was removed from the Canadian drug market, the province created a working group on narcotics addiction.
Working with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, this expert working group has prepared Opioid Advice for Health-Care Providers in English and French on the following topics:
- Detection and Management of Acute Opioid Withdrawal
- Detection and Management of Acute Opioid Intoxication
- Switching Opioids Safely to Prevent Overdose
- Management of Opioid Dependency in Pregnancy
The group developed a series of information sheets on the detection and management of acute opioid withdrawal and intoxication, and on how to switch opioids safely.
