On January 1 2013, the College of Nurses of Ontario is bringing in a new class of registration, the Non-Practicing Class.
We have had a number of questions about this change, and recommend you visit the CNO's FAQ Page: Non-Practising Class and contact the CNO about your registration if you have additional questions.
Membership in the RNAO is governed by Bylaw 2.02(2), which says members must be either Registered Nurses or retired RNs.
That means that if you a retired nurse, your registration status with the CNO does not affect your eligibility for membership with RNAO. You can maintain involvement with RNAO whether you are registered in the General, Extended or Non-Practicing classes, or if you resign completely from the CNO.
