This workshop is designed for nurses currently employed or aspiring to be employed in leadership and management. The concepts and theories presented in the workshop are supported with opportunities for discussion and application through the development of a personal action plan and group exercises.

This workshop will use a framework you can apply to explore and enhance your leadership skills. There is a current need for leaders in the workplace and every nurse is a leader (formal and informal).

Providing effective leadership in all sectors of nursing is a critical component of safe patient care, job satisfaction and nurse retention.

Objectives
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Assess personal leadership competencies
  • Utilize best practices for enhancing their leadership skills
  • Explore their leadership competencies including conflict management, change management, building relationships and trust
