About this Guideline:

For the purpose of this document, Interprofessional is defined as:
Multiple health disciplines with diverse knowledge and skills who share an integrated set of goals and who utilize interdependent collaboration that involves communication, sharing of knowledge and coordination of services to provide services to patients/clients and their care-giving systems.

The focus for the development of this guideline was identifying attributes of interprofessional collaboration that results in optimizing quality outcomes for client/person/patient/system/team.

The development of this BPG is based on the best available evidence and where evidence was limited, the best practice recommendation were based on the consensus of expert opinion. The BPG was developed for all current and future Health Care: providers, educators, managers, decision makers and the client and their circle of care to enhance positive outcomes for patient, systems and organization.

This BPG identifies best practices that effectively enable and enhance/sustain/embed Team Work/Interprofessional Work.

This guideline is scheduled for publication in April 2013.
