Four health-care organizations participated as early adopters to demonstrate the benefits of using nursing order sets embedded within their electronic medical record systems (EMR) to optimize health outcomes. The approach was to build organizational capacity by providing leadership, high level training, mentoring and support in order to seamlessly integrate nursing order sets within the organizations EMR.
This presentation reviews the approach to build organizational capacity to standardize and automate data collection and data extraction for outcome evaluation. Participants will have an opportunity to hear from each organization about their implementation approach and lessons learned to extract data electronically to support continuous quality improvement.
