Regional Home & Community Care office in collaboration with Chiefs of Ontario, are pleased to announce an amazing opportunity to apply to attend a First Nations Mental Health Institute delivered by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).
RNAO has tailored this institute to meet the particular needs of FN HCC practice, with input from the Chronic Disease Management Education Fund Advisory Committee.
Please note to be considered for this event you must be currently working within a First Nations and Inuit community.

A sample of the learning objectives:
1. To provide an overview of the landscape of Mental Health and Addictions in First Nations in Canada and Ontario
2. To create a deeper understanding of how the historical context of FN populations has impacted upon the present day situation and to articulate current healing practices.
3. To identify clients who may have mental health and addictions issues, complete assessments on client and be able to intervene through the use of therapeutic relationships
Workshops on Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Suicide training and Traditional healing methods and resources.
This 4 day learning event will be held March 4-7 in North York/Toronto. Deadline for application is February 1, 2013.
