The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario, with the support of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, is continuing the Long-Term Care Best Practices program to enhance quality care in the sector through the role of LTC Best Practice Coordinator.

We have a vacancy in the North East Ontario LHIN 13 and we are seeking an accomplished RN to take a lead role in facilitating utilization of best practices in long-term care facilities. This is a full-time position.

The North East Ontario LHIN 13 encompasses Nipissing, Parry Sound, Sudbury, Algoma, Cochrane and also includes the eastern portion of the district of Kenora.

As a Long-Term Care Best Practice Coordinator you will support the implementation of evidence-based practices in LTC facilities within the North East Ontario LHIN. You will participate in development of structures, approaches and systems to integrate best practice guidelines and other evidence-based practices in LTC with both regulated and unregulated staff. You will seek out and coordinate opportunities for promotion and use of evidence-based best practices in long-term care.

You are a Registered Nurse (Masters preferred), currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario with five years progressive experience in nursing, which includes the Long-Term Care sector. You must be familiar with current LTC legislation and knowledge of RAI MDS is required. You are knowledgeable of the principles of evidence-based practice and must have experience with implementation of RNAO Best Practice Guidelines. You also possess experience in adult education strategies and change management. Team building skills; leadership and motivational skills; project management experience; knowledge of related Long Term Care programs; strong facilitation skills; and ability to work with a range of stakeholders are a must in this role. Regular travel within the LHIN and surrounding area is required and the successful candidate will reside within the LHIN. The host agency (Algoma Manor) will provide operating support.
